Hero Bio:

Clinton Lodi Bonser was born in Oskaloosa, Clay County, Illinois, April 17, 1895. He moved with his parents from Illinois to Colorado Springs, Colorado, when a child, and from Colorado to Goldfield, Nevada, in 1903, during the boom days. Two years later the family moved to Reno, and there the boy Clinton grew to manhood. On October
8th, 1917, he added his name to the list of Washoe County boys who were flocking to the colors.

He served at Camp Lewis, Washington, and at American University, Washington, D. C. On January 4th, 1918, he sailed with Company D, 20th Engineer Regiment for France and landed at Brest on January 17th. From that time on he served with his company in various parts of France.

In October 1918, while stationed in Paris, he contracted pneumonia which sent him to the military hospital and, eventually, resulted in his death (October 31st, 1918). He was buried in Suresames American Cemetery in Paris on the eve of the Armistice which ended the war.

Many personal friends throughout the state mourn his loss, yet they are proud that their young friend had served his Country in the noblest way he could, and that he laid down his life that they might live to enjoy the blessings of peace. Besides his mother, Mrs. Eugenia Howard, of 406 Lake Street, Reno, Nevada; three sisters, Mrs. Hallie
Ray of the same place, Mrs. Lela Falvey, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mrs.Marguerite Thompson, of Oakland, California, survive him.
